Why I'm Running

Over the last few years I've asked a lot of questions. Some people probably think I've asked too many. That's okay.

A question isn't an attack. It's a question.

I believe every decision, every project, and every policy should be able to stand on its own. If asking a question is enough to threaten an idea, maybe the problem isn't the question.

I'm not running because I think council is full of bad people. I'm running because I think local government can work better.

Big decisions deserve careful planning, expert advice, and public input. Small problems deserve practical solutions. Process should support good decisions, not become the product.

Bowen's size is one of its greatest strengths. We don't have to behave like a city of 200,000 people. We can move faster, adapt quicker, and solve problems before they become bigger ones.

Accountability isn't about blaming previous councils, staff, or contractors. It's about learning what worked, what didn't, and making sure mistakes aren't repeated.

Good ideas don't belong to council, committees, or special interest groups. They can come from anyone. My job is to judge ideas on their merit—not on who proposed them.

You won't always agree with me, and that's okay. But you'll always know where I stand, why I stand there, and that I won't simply follow because it's easier.

I believe council should think independently, challenge assumptions, respect both residents' wishes and their wallets, and be judged by one thing above all else:

Not how much process it created, but what it actually delivered.
