Council is made up of seven people.

Seven votes.

Every vote carries exactly the same weight.

The mayor leads meetings, represents the municipality and helps set direction, BUT the future of Bowen is ultimately decided by council as a whole.

That's exactly why every councilor matters.

Having diversity of ideas makes better policy. Ensuring different lived experiences and priorities can be presented, debated and weighed, makes policy more representative. Our community is home to many different ideas and values; our council should likewise be open to hearing  ideas that challenge assumptions. 

Our community is always changing - let's have a council that is willing to be flexible and listen to those voices.
