We Are A Part, Not Apart From The Environment

People are part of the environment—not separate from it.

That belief has shaped my life. I grew up surrounded by nature, and I've spent decades fishing, boating, working outdoors, and learning to live alongside the wildlife of this province. We are the outsiders in their environment, and it's our responsibility to adapt to them—not the other way around.

That's why I believe Bowen has an opportunity to demonstrate that thriving communities and healthy ecosystems can exist together. Protecting our forests, watersheds, and wildlife doesn't mean excluding people. It means making thoughtful decisions that allow both to thrive.

As a councillor, I'll support environmental policies that are backed by evidence, practical experience, and long-term thinking. Good environmental policy shouldn't just protect what we have today—it should leave Bowen healthier for the next generation while recognizing that people also have to live here.

My responsibility is to make decisions that serve the long-term interests of Bowen Island—including the wildlife that can't speak for itself.
